today we are going show you how to make almond milk at home
200 ml of almond milk with this recipe will have about 65 calories & about 3% fat. reduce water if you want to have thicker/higher fat milk
we have soaked the almonds in enough water for 12 hours. soak them overnight at the least
soaking helps to neutralize the anti nutrients in almonds (like phytase, enzyme inhibitors etc). soaking makes the almonds easily digestible and more bio available
we will now wash these almonds thoroughly
and let the excess water drain out then peel off the skins
here are the peeled almonds
we will add them to a blender & blend with just enough water to make a fine paste first
In all we will be using 1 liter of water to blend the almonds
here we go
we will check if the almonds are ground fine
we need to grind a bit more
and now we have a fine almond paste
we will add the rest of the water and blend it once more
the almond milk is ready. we will strain it now to separate the almond meal
setting a large strainer over a vessel & lining it with cheesecloth
pouring out the almond milk in it & then lifting the edges of the cloth and squeezing out all the almond milk that we can
the almond milk is ready for use. store it in a glass bottle in the refrigerator
you can sweeten it with sugar, honey, dates or drink it without any sweetener . it will stay good for 3 days in the fridge
you can drink it warm as well but do not boil it
here is our almond milk stored in the bottle which we will keep in the fridge

Easy and quick to make and a healthier alternative to not only store-bought almond milk but also dairy milk as it is not only plant-based but more importantly free of added preservatives & stabilizers. Almonds have antinutrients like phytase, enzyme inhibitors, tannins to prevent them from sprouting until the conditions are favorable. These antinutrients prevent optimal absorption of nutrients. Soaking them in water neutralizes them. Hence whenever you wish to eat almonds soak them, remove the skin & then consume them. To make almond milk the almonds need to be made into a fine paste and for this soaking them overnight is essential. Almond milk is a very good alternative for those who are lactose intolerant or for those who wish to avoid dairy milk for any reason. It is lower in calories as well.
